For the cosmetology theory exam
Retaking the cosmetology theory exam? Let’s make a plan.
Lisensa is a study coach for the state board written exam. I’m starting with five Kentucky retakers: a game plan, a free study app for the month, and me in your corner.

Your game plan, your own study app, and my support
No cost, nothing to buy.
- 01A 30-minute call: we look at what your score report showed and what you’ve tried since.
- 02We figure out where to focus and set your study time and retest date.
- 03You get your own study app for the month: a plan to your test date and short daily sessions using your own book.
- 04I’m in your corner every week by email.
When you book, add your state and about when you tested. For people 18 and older. Please don’t share actual exam questions. Not in Kentucky? Email alison@lisensa.com and I’ll add you to the waitlist for the first small group.
To be upfront: the app is a free first version, and these five spots help me learn what retakers actually need. It doesn’t give you answers or promise a score; it helps you study. Your name stays out of anything I write.
How Lisensa works
A study coach that teaches you how to study
You study from your own book. Lisensa shows you what to study each day and how, so the habits stay with you after the test.
A plan to your test date
The topics that matter most for you, in the right order, built around your test date.
Habits that stick
Short daily sessions: close the book and remember, space it out, explain it out loud, and check how sure you are.
A plan that keeps up with you
Life gets busy. Your plan adjusts to the week you actually had, so you keep moving forward instead of falling behind.

About
Hi, I’m Alison
I’m building Lisensa in Louisville, Kentucky, for people preparing for the cosmetology theory exam.
Growing up, I wasn’t a good test-taker, and more than once a test score, not what I knew, decided my path. One 6th-grade math test put me in remedial math until college and left me with math trauma I still carry. My SAT score limited where I could apply and the scholarships I could get.
I’ve spent my career helping people learn, as a teacher and then leading curriculum. Preparing for a big test is a skill that can be taught. No one should be blocked from their career because no one taught them how.
